Pretoria – Authorities have secured an order to preserve the house worth R22 million on suspicion of being bought out of Johannes Jacobs Badenhorst, aka Hanne Badenhorst and his wife Christel Badenhorst with proceeds from the crime.
The NPA spokesman for Lumka Mahanjana on Friday (14th March 2025), Pretoria's Asset Confiscation Unit (AFU) has obtained a preservation order at the Pretoria High Court and has saved the R220 million genus home, belonging to r220 million bashnes hangos belonging to the northwest, northwest. “Badenhorst and his wife, Christel Badenhorst.”
The house was purchased for R2.2 million in May 2022 and was registered in the names of Johannes Jacobs Badenhorst and his wife, Christel.
“A study by AFU revealed that the funds used to purchase the property purchased assets originating from Tarioco (Pty) Ltd., one of the companies founded by Louis Petrus Liebenberg as part of the Forever Diamonds and Gold Group of Companies (FDG Group of Companies).

Hannes Badenhorst was one of the directors of Tarioco.
“They ran a syndicate who was seduced to participate in a joint venture agreement with FDG Corporate Group by purchasing diamond plots that are thought to be sold through shared profits with FDG Group's corporate groups,” Mahanjana said.
The joint venture partners were subsequently promised a high return on their investment.
“However, evidence revealed that the scheme was fraudulent, with no diamond plots present and investors' funds were used to purchase the mines and property,” Mahanjana said.
“The evidence further reveals that existing investors were paid for by existing investors' investments, and features the classic Ponzi scheme.
However, the houses stored do not form part of the assets seized by Taliomix liquidators.
“The next step is to apply for a final forfeiture order if the House is sold at a public auction and the proceeds are paid to the criminal asset recovery account,” explained Mahanjana.
Criminal cases against two people and two others related to Liebenberg, as well as nine other cases, will appear at the Magistrates Court in Bronkhorstspruit on July 8, 2025.
“The head of Pretoria AFU, Martin Mafojane, head of Pretoria AFU, wants to welcome the preservation order and ensure the public that the AFU is committed to confiscating the proceeds of the crime,” Mahanjana said.
