At the recent Gauteng Investment Conference held on April 3, Lebogang Maile's Gauteng Finance and Economic Development Mec announced that the state has exceeded its initial investment pledge target. The 2025 Gauteng Investment Conference has achieved remarkable results exceeding its initial investment pledge targets by securing a commitment of R312.5 billion.
This important milestone shows increased confidence from local and international investors in Garten's economic potential, setting the stage for a thriving future. The pledge has gained scope across 15 sectors and is positively reflected in Gauteng's growing confidence in economic potential and its ability to attract both domestic and international investors.
The key investment pledge spreads across 60 projects, demonstrating the state's wide economic appeal. The key sectors that received substantial commitments include:
Properties: R12.33 billion for 11 projects. Information and Communication Technology (ICT): 80.7 billion R3 for six projects. Transport and logistics: R3.97 billion 4 of five projects. Agricultural treatment: 7 projects 5. Two projects cost R4.1 billion9. Other sectors: Investments in chemicals, aviation, water, sanitation, agriculture, retail and healthcare also contributed to an impressive sum.
The international nature of investment is remarkable. There are pledges from organizations around the world, including the US, Australia, China, the UK, France and many South African companies.
Investor interest in Gauteng has been researched from around the world, recognising the strategic importance of over 300 investors from five continents working with the state.
The pledge breakdown includes:

Additionally, multinationals have pledged a substantial R34.7 billion, further strengthening Gauteng's relevance as an attractive destination for investment.
The pledged investment will be directed across the five development corridors of Gauteng, ensuring widespread economic development within the state.
Central Corridor: R17.49 billion 2. South Corridor: R42 billion 3. Eastern Corridor: R36 billion 4. Western corridor: R5 23.7 billion. Northern Corridor: R13 billion
The wider Gauteng urban areas, which extend across the northwest surrounding areas, Mpumalanga and the free states, will also benefit from the investment of R21.5 billion.
The R312.5 billion pledge funds projects in various sectors, each important for Gauteng's economic development. Here are some notable investments:

Among the key pledges, 5 billion has been allocated for the development of aviation sector projects in the East Corridor, fixed by the Aerotropolis initiative, which is committed to further strengthening Gauteng's position as a global business hub.
Mec Lebogang Maile said the successful completion of the 2025 Gauteng Investment Conference marks a pivotal moment in economic change in the state. The secured investment not only promotes the state's development, but also creates important employment opportunities, boosts local industries, and improves the quality of life for residents of Garten.
