Morocco has been appointed to head the ECA's 57th session of the ECA's Ministers' Conference of Africa's Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The decision was made unanimously on the first day of the expert segment of the conference at Addis Ababa.

Zakaria El Hamili, head of the Multilateral African Affairs Division at the Ministry of Economic and Finance of the Kingdom of Morocco, will occupy the post.

The first vice-chairmen are Cameroon, the second Benin and the third Kenya. The reporter will be Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe's Andrew Bubumbe, the resignation chair, has expressed his support for Moroccan leadership.

He highlighted Zimbabwe's contributions over the past year. This includes active cooperation with the Secretariat to amplify Africa's voice at high-level political forums on sustainable development, high-level working groups on global financial architecture, and key global forums such as FFD4 and COP29.

The Kingdom of Morocco also agreed to hold the next Minister's Conference (COM) in March 2026 under the theme of “Growth through Innovation: Growth through Use of cutting-edge Technology for Economic Change in Africa.”
