Dakar РCombined with his professional qualifications as a software engineer dedicated to digital transformation, he was passionate about improving Senegale's medical ecosystem, ultimately leading to the recognition of Henri Osmane Gu̬re, a fantastic Senegale entrepreneur on the global stage.
After participating in the African Business Heroes (ABH) Award competition, 2024 proved to be Henri's year without success on two occasions.
He was selected as the Grand Prize Winner of Just Ended Edition, a Competition for Starry Work performed by his company Eyene (https://eyone.net/) to make comprehensive digital medical records available to doctors and patients in Senegale health facilities.
Patience and dedication lead to success
It would have been easy for Henri to give up when he didn't make the first cut, but his belief in the company, coupled with a deep understanding of the need for life-changing healthcare services, pushed him into patience.
I am driven by personal motivations, a family loss in 2017. Henri focused on using digital and technology knowledge to make reliable electronic patient medical records available in Senegale clinics and hospitals.
Within less than a decade, Eyene (meaning “Let's Go Together”) serves more than 500 healthcare facilities and has access to around 30 specialties in the community.
In line with Eyene's vision of making medical data accessible to all healthcare workers, its interconnected solutions allowed Senegale physicians and healthcare administrators to send bills remotely, manage appointments online, and provide innovative services to patients.
The security and privacy of patient personal and medical data is ensured, and records are instantly accessible.
Overcoming hurdles to solving Africa's challenges
In a country like Senegal, which faces constraints (https://apo-opa.co/422fkm0) such as shortages of medical personnel, rural communities far from healthcare facilities and a traditional relief on manual processes, Eyene is improving healthcare quality, streamlining administrative processes and saving lives.
This added the first challenge of establishing successful startups in Africa, including funding constraints, technical barriers and the challenging task of convincing them to embrace digital transformation.
With this in mind, it is clear why Henri Osmane Guey became the right winner of the 6th Annual African Business Heroes Awards competition.
Commitment to providing life-changing solutions
When Henri stepped onto the stage at the Abu Grand Finale in Kigali, Rwanda, and entered the live audience and judging committee, he faced nine other finalists from across the continent, winning a $1.5 million prize.
His journey began several months ago with nearly 20,000 applicants. Everything was dedicated to finding solutions to African challenges.
Reflecting the competitive theme of “AI – African innovation, insights, and impact,” Henri's story captivated audiences and judges, and more importantly, how Aone transforms the landscape of Senegal's healthcare through digitalization.
Commenting on winning the competition, Henri highlighted not only the hard work that took on creating a company that caters to specific healthcare challenges, but also how proud he is of Aone and his team.
ABH: Recognize the heroes who transform the community
This commitment to finding solutions to pressing problems has set Henri apart in this year's competition.
He was not attached to previous failures that had been competing, so he adapted his approach, improved his business model, and presented innovations that had the potential to not only change his life in Senegal, but also expand across Africa.
Henri's determination, perseverance and commitment to the African continent all contributed to his ultimate success in the ABH Awards competition, the Jack MA Foundation's flagship charity program initiative in Africa to support entrepreneurs.
ABH's mission is to showcase and grow local talents that will positively impact the community and beyond and encourage African entrepreneurial movements.
Over the decade leading up to 2030, the program recognizes 100 African entrepreneurs and provides grant funding, training programs and support for the broader African entrepreneurial ecosystem.
