“We will never support imperialists to overturn democracy, sovereignty.”

ANC Executive Director Fikile Mbarara suggests that the party's GNU partners are the catalysts for the recent penalty tariffs and threats of ANC leaders' sanctions.

Speaking at a media briefing on the results of the party's National Executive Committee, Mbarara accused the DA of “political mischief” and claimed that the ANC had identified it as campaigning against the country's transformational policies during its travel to the US.

The DA and ANC were in Loggerheads over foreign policy. Deputy Minister Dalyu Whitfield was fired by Ramaphosa after travelling to the US while Pretoria was under continued attack from the White House.

“We cannot undo the bees to appease the United States in the interests of the nation, because this is what the United States wants and we must abolish certain policies that do not support us for us in terms of change policies,” he said.

Mbalula said such threats by US Congress members would not prevent the ANC from pursuing its transformational agenda, and dared the United States to impose sanctions on ANC leaders.

“Let us do that even if it means we are suffering through sanctions as leaders of the ANC. We will never support imperialists to overturn democracy and overturn sovereignty… We will never abandon our nation that we fought.”

Mbalula said the ANC has decided to engage with SACP, the Tirtartite Alliance partner, to reverse its decision to challenge the election. He said the SACP decision had widespread consequences for the national democratic revolution.

“The ANC acts with a maturity and humiliating spirit, making its allies not only humble but also clear…but we may have reached a stage where we are unable to (shift) the SACP from decisions that challenge the election.

The Western Cape has been reconstructed

He announced that the NEC has decided to disband the Western Cape Executive Committee, which it fought. He said a national subcommittee will be deployed to the states to strengthen political education, organizational discipline and strategic capabilities. He said the party's working committee will oversee the process.

He said Kwazulu-Natal and Gauteng Province recorded significant progress in restructuring the chapters and restoring organizational consistency. He added that NEC is pleased with the progress of the two states.

The ANC dissolved two states earlier this year after helping the election outcomes fell below the 50% majority needed to govern the country.

Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal are the most strategic states for the ANC, with over 40% of election bases.

Mbalula announced that the party's medium-term policy review, known as the National Assembly, will be held at the NASREC Expo Center in December, with 1,600 representatives participating. He said the party will establish the theme of the NGC and its strategic framework.
