The African Business Council is pleased to work with BrandComms and African Business to announce the nominee list for the third edition of the BCA Business Book of the Year Awards. Now in its third year, this annual competition is dedicated to lighting up the persuasive business narratives that drive socioeconomic development in Africa.
In (re)recognizing the narratives that shape the African business environment, the BCA African Business Book of the Year Awards brings together key African publishing and business figures honoring African publications and publishers.
This year's list features an interesting mix focusing on manufacturing and capital market reform, Africa's economy and infrastructure, travel within Africa, skit manufacturing economics, gas as an alternative feed for industry, and Africa's response to Covid-19.
This year's review committee consists of respected African business and thought leaders and media executives: Arnold Ekpe, chairman of the BCA and chairman of the review committee, chair of Chris Ogbechi, former dean of the Lagos Business School, CEO of Africanofilter, and managing manager of the Bishop of Telhas Benye. Editor of African Magazine and Anver Versi, and New African and African Banker Magazine.
Commenting on the award, Arnold Ekpe believes that Africans need to improve their storytelling. “We've seen research quantified the costs of the risk premiums we pay, because we're not good at telling our stories, and more importantly we've published business books. Or mining.”
This year's winners and runner-ups will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for London Director on July 4, 2025.
Winners receive the trophy and $10,000! The second and third winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
Last year's recipient was a trade in Africa by Professor David Luke. Africa is not a country by Dipo Faloyin and Ethiopian Airlines: The African Aviation Powers by Jozef Mols.
