Durban – Kranstal-based boutique hotel The Lazy Moose has secured second place in two top award categories, further strengthening the KZN South Coast’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.

The Lazy Moose has won second place in the “Best Boutique Hotel'' and “Green Initiatives'' categories at the 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards.

Organized by Durban Tourism, the awards celebrate excellence, innovation and resilience in the tourism sector.

This year's event attracted a record number of entries, highlighting the increasing competitiveness and quality of tourism services across the region.

Owner Luke Murgatroyd said: “We are extremely proud and honored to have received this recognition at the Durban Tourism Business Awards.”

“More than 400 companies applied for nominations, so just being recognized is a huge accomplishment.”

Mr Murgatroyd added: “As a proud 4-star rated boutique hotel, our goal has always been to provide a 5-star guest experience through superior service, attention to detail and genuine hospitality.

“These awards reinforce our commitment to providing a memorable experience for every guest who visits The Lazy Moose.”

Winter is traditionally considered one of the best seasons to explore KZN's south coast, and The Lazy Moose's recognition comes at an ideal time for the region.

The mild temperatures create an ideal environment for outdoor activities, and the world-famous Sardine Run currently attracts many tourists.

Looking ahead, The Lazy Moose is exploring opportunities to expand in response to the growing demand for accommodation and hospitality services.

“We are excited about the future,” Murgatroyd said.

“As demand increases, we are considering plans to add additional rooms to allow us to welcome more guests while maintaining the high standards that are synonymous with The Lazy Moose.

“We would also like to thank our guests, staff, suppliers and community for their continued support. These awards belong to all of you as much as they do to us.”

Lazy Moose Restaurant is open to the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed coastal setting.

Restaurant service on weekdays is limited to hotel guests.
