Johannesburg – Economic Freedom Warrior (EFF) MP Sihle Lonzi was forced to remove from the Parliamentary Committee meeting after questioning the Director about the appointment of ANC Chairman Gwede Mantashe's son to the SETA board.
The incident follows the revelation of the Sector Education and Training Agency (SETA) Board of Directors' leak list, revealing extensive political sponsorship.

The list includes key positions such as Mantashe's son and former Prime Minister of KZN.
DA demands accountability
Karabo Khakhau MP, a member of the Higher Education and Training Committee, said: “These appointments confirm the blatant abuse of the SETA Committee for the ANC's political interests. We explain to Minister Nkabane why qualified South Africans are on the sidelines against connected executives.”
While the SETA board plays a key role in skill development and reducing unemployment, the Nkabane appointing minister prioritizes political connections over merit.
Next Steps
The DA is written urgently to Congress to summon the Minister for questioning. Khakhau said, “DA will not allow Setas to become the ANC deployment committee. They will fight for transparency and skill-based appointments that benefit all South Africans.”
