Cape Town – Ge Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) today announced the successful completion of modernization of the Secunda power plant at Global Energy and Chemical Company Sasol in Mpumalanga.
Modernization included increasing operational efficiency and reducing carbon footprint of the two 9E gas turbines by replacing the existing pre-school pre-school fuel gas module (FGM) skids.
The project will serve as a model for modernizing power plants across Africa. As the continent faces increased energy demand, such initiatives highlight ways to reduce emissions and enable more efficient energy production without the need for an entirely new infrastructure.

The reduction in NOX emissions is significantly below the guaranteed 25 ppm, representing a three-quarter reduction from the previous level. Avoid using water as a diluent with DLN technology. This saves the expected water consumption, equivalent to approximately 64 Olympic pools per turbine each year. Compared to previous combustors, there was an improvement in efficiency, with around 10,000 metric tons of CO2 released per gas turbine, supporting SASOL's environmental goals. Extended maintenance intervals, reduced downtime and operating costs. The reliability of power sources delivered to the National Grid has been improved.

The project will be exhibited at En Africa (http://apo-opa.co/4k3oeyh) and will be held from May 20th to 22nd at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in Cape Town, South Africa.
