Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit water treatment plant is down due to a high-head pump failure, impacting plant operations.
The City of Tshwane said in a brief statement on Tuesday, July 21, 2026: “Technical teams are on site and working diligently to carry out the necessary repairs and return the factory to full capacity as quickly and safely as possible.”
The affected areas include the town of Bronkhorstspruit, Zitobeni, Ekangala, Letabisen and parts of Thembisile Hani municipality.
The statement said, “At this stage, there is no prospect of resuming operations.''
“The City continues to closely monitor the situation and will provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
“The City of Tshwane apologizes for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank affected residents for their patience, understanding and continued cooperation.”
