Cape Town – South Africa's Hissens officially exhibited some of the most ambitious innovations at a groundbreaking event held last night at Hirsch stores in Umlanga, Fourways and Milnerton.
“This was more than a product showcase: it's celebrating how integrated Hisense and South Africa have become,” said Luna Nortje, associate general manager of Hisense SA.
“This world-class television is proud to have been manufactured by South Africans at their Atlantis factory in Cape Town for South Africans.”
Guests at the exclusive event, including VVIP customers, were treated to the first-hand experience of the R299,999 Display Powerhouse.
Featuring next-generation mini LED technology, the 110ux offers unparalleled contrast, brightness and color fidelity.
Supported by 4-year warranty, free delivery, professional installation and premium customer support.
This new television highlights Hisense's broader legacy. Founded in 1969 in Qingdao, China, it is a global technology leader and currently operates in over 66 countries.
Since entering South Africa in 1996, Hisense has built a 29-year legacy based on integrity, customer-centricity, innovation and sustainable growth.
Atlantis Industrial Park, which spans 100,000 m², has grown significantly over the years and now boasts the ability to produce more than 1 million TVs and over 500,000 refrigerators each year, creating approximately 1,000 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs across the industry's supply chain.
Market performance reflects this impact. As of early 2025, Hisense is leading the South African market, ranking first in both television and refrigerator categories.
“South Africa is not just a market for us. It's a partner in innovation,” Nortje added.
“We invite more businesses to work together, invest and grow. This is a story of local talent, local pride and global reach.”
The brand's sustainable commitment to youth empowerment, community involvement and job creation includes the opening of the TV history or “Tevolution” museum in Cape Town, which has welcomed more than 5,000 visitors since last December.
To enhance logistics and regional exports, Hisense also formed a joint venture with Hapag-Lloyd in 2019, employing more than 150 people and establishing a cross-border warehouse network from Johannesburg and Cape Town to South Africa.
The platform can also be used to support other Chinese companies operating in the region.
In collaboration with China and the African Development Fund, Hisense SA remains committed to strengthening economic and cultural ties between China and South Africa and maintaining the position of technology created in South Africa at the global stage.
