JOHANNESBURG – Chris Honey Baragwanas Hospital, struggling with a huge amount of laundry, has received welcome relief in the form of a massive donation.
On Wednesday (March 26, 2025), Hisense SA donated much needed washing machines and air conditioning units to the hospital to improve the patient's experience.

In a sincere gesture of support for one of Africa's largest and most important medical institutions, Hisense SA handed over R300 000 laundry equipment and air conditioning units.
The donations included 20 top loader washing machines each with a retail value of R6 999, 20 tumble dryers with a retail price of R6 999, and seven air conditioning units with a total retail price of R69 999.
The donation is part of Hisense SA's “Loads of Laundry” initiative, through which the company continues to provide cutting-edge laundry equipment to institutions and organizations that are struggling.
It is the installation of all seven air conditioning units that further enhance the impact of this donation. This is generously covered by Hisense SA and its longtime distributors Filibiz and Atlas appliances.

Looking back at hisense SA's collaborative assistant general manager Luna Nortjie, he said:
“It is an honor for Hisense SA to play a small role in restoring dignity into the hospital environment, not just for patients, but for the dedicated staff who serve every day.
“We are proud to be here today and we are committed to continuing our journey of this impact together.”
This gesture followed a few months of joint planning between Hisense SA and hospital leadership, prompting an increase in complaints about inadequate laundry facilities and the hospital's slow summer heat, affecting both patients and their staff.
This initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to healthcare, corporate citizenship, and similar dignity of well-being for frontline healthcare staff and patients.

Dr. Nthabiseng Makgana, CEO of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, welcomed the donation and recognized the partnership as a beacon of shared responsibility.
“This donation is more than just a machine, it's about creating a relaxing space where patients feel cared for and medical staff have the ability to do their best,” Dr. McGana said.
“We are deeply grateful for Hisense SA and its partners to advance our actual support and long-term commitment to public agencies in our country to have access to the technology they desperately need.”
The initiative, taken by a South African organization of multinational Chinese companies, reaffirms Hisense SA's continued efforts to raise local influences and ongoing efforts to raise sophisticated, energy-efficient technologies that meet the needs of real communities.
