Pretoria – The city of Tshwane is warning of possible supply disruptions in some areas when it temporarily closes its Bronkhorstspruit water treatment plant starting tomorrow.
The city said the “inevitable shutdown” from May 5 to 16, 2025 was to promote the installation of new panels for the high lift motor.
“In water treatment plants, panels for high lift motors help to control and monitor the operation of pumps that lift treated water to higher elevations. Usually, they are usually distributed directly to water towers or directly to water network systems.”
“These panels are important to ensure efficient and reliable operation of high lift pumps, which are essential to supply water to the end users.
“This essential upgrade is intended to improve the performance of the high lift pump mentioned above.”
The city said it intends to complete the upgrade within the designated period and plans to closely monitor and update residents for the development.
The following regions in Region 7 are affected:
Bronkhorstspruit Town ekandustria ekangala rethabiseng riamapark Zithobeni Thithobeni hani Hani Local government (water supply across borders)
“The City of Tshwane sincerely apologizes for the inconveniences they may encounter as a result of this temporary closure,” the statement said.
“Roaming water tankers are arranged for all affected areas.”
